Dreams are very strange. I always have the weirdest dreams and I usually remember them. I also wonder if they have any meaning behind them. It’s interesting to think that your dreams could mean something about yourself. A lot of people claim it’s because of something you ate or didn’t eat before bed, which could be true. But others believe it’s all a subconscious thing.
I haven’t had any interesting or strange dreams in a while, which usually makes me sad. I love having weird dreams, especially when I wake up in the morning and remember them. I like to lay in bed for a while after waking and just think about it. What could it mean? Or am I just putting way too much thought into it?
The one aspect of dreams that I think is the most intriguing is Lucid Dreaming. This is when you’re asleep and you know you’re asleep. If you have a lot of practice with lucid dreaming you can inevitably go and do whatever you want. Yes, you might automatically think of the movie Inception, but I have been intrigued with this concept well before Inception came into theaters.
When I was in grade school I read this series called The Chronicles of Chrestomanci by Diana Wynne Jones. In the first book the character Cat lucid dreams every night. Well, I guess his is more like astral projection, but it made me interested in lucid dreaming.
I have had little experiences with lucid dreaming. There are times in a dream where I suddenly realize that I’m dreaming and I’ll say it out loud. This is always good and bad. I like that I realize I’m dreaming, but usually once I realize it I wake up. Which stinks. But not all the time. Once I saved this dream kid from being crushed by a T-Rex as it smashed through my grandparents house. It was pretty epic. Other times I realize I’m dreaming because of a sense of familiarity. I’ll look around myself and say, “I’ve been here before.” Then I can remember when the last time was that I’ve been there and what happened.
